Church
History - in brief
Refuge
Temple Church was founded by Pastor George Nelson Bloomfield. The
church began in the living room of Pastor Bloomfield's home in 1983.
Pastor Bloomfield labored faithfully with the late Bishop Howard
at the Shiloh Apostolic Church where he served as the Assistant
Pastor for a number of years before God called him to Pastor.
Refuge
Temple Church remained at Pastor Bloomfield's home for a year before
God blessed with a small location at 1208 S. 17th Avenue. Pastor
Bloomfield and the saints labored and served God for years at the
small store front location. The church continued to grow over the
years, many Ministers and Pastors were born out of Refuge Temple
and under Pastor's Bloomfield's leadership. Pastor Bloomfield nurtured
and allowed God fearing saints to grow and gain experience in the
pulpit. He is not selfish with his pulpit and continues to allow
saints to grow and develop.
God
blessed and the church expanded from a small store front location
at 1208 S. 17th Avenue to 1208 - 1210 South 17th Avenue. Currently
Pastor Bloomfield is being assisted by Acting Pastor Peter Thompson.
Our
Doctrinal Belief
We
believe on God's standard of salvation, as on the Day of Pentecost,
when over 120 were filled with the Holy Spirit followed by sign
performed in the name of Jesus.
Mark
16:16-17
The Great Commission: He that believeth and is baptized
shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these
signs shall follow them that believe: in my name shall they cast
out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.
Acts
2:4
The Spirit Filled Life: And they were all filled
with the Holy Ghost. And began to speak with other tongues, as the
spirit gave them utterance.
Psalms
51:17 (Repentance)
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite
heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Acts
2:38
The Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remsission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Hebrews
14:12
The Sanctified Life: Follow peace with all men,
and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
